David's on YouTube!!!

When the Mugi students were at my studio earlier this month, they really enjoyed using my plate dipping tongs (in photo).  Gina has created a video that she has uploaded to YouTube.  I hope you enjoy it!  The YouTube url:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jzVIxDZ-Go

Chattering (Tobi Gama) and a New Design

Above is a lip of bowl freshly chattered this afternoon.  This bowl will be glazed with amber yellow celadon.

The above picture has a chattered large vase.  It is my hope to glaze this pot with wood ash and clay.

This finally picutre is a new design.  It was my hope that this would hold and pour olive oil.  More than likely, I will glaze this pot with Silverton Mountain Blue and Tea Dust.

Hope you had a nice weekend!

Views from this Past Weekend with Mugi students...

These photos are from students who were here last weekend with Mugi Studio.  They took some fun and interesting photos!

This photo to the left is a vase (tea dust and silverton mountain blue glazes) taken through the window of the gallery.  In addition, this same vase can be found in the wedding photos!  Yes, it was in Hudson, New York in the wedding the weekend prior to the Mugi weekend.

MacKenzie (green t-shirt and outside photo) is a junior in art school and has been interning/assisting David with the pottery for about a month.  She was very helpful in carrying the pots to the kiln after they have dried on the table.    Thank you, MacKenzie!  The other two women are students from Mugi Studio.

The photos is the start of loading the kiln.   The last photo is a picture of the studio and gallery.

Thank you for sharing everyone!  We had a great weekend with you.  David and Gina

Mugi Weekend Outing

This weekend I had eight students from Mugi Pottery and Gallery from New York City glazing in my studio of which three of the students will be here tomorrow to finish glazing their pieces. It has been extremely warm today with high humity.  More photos of the group and pieces tomorrow.  I'm off to dinner at Outi's house (the teacher/organizer for the Mugi Weekends) with the whole group.

Wedding Vases for Michael and Alison...Congratulations!

This past weekend we were able to celebrate the wedding of Michael and Alison in Hudson, New York.  They had two vases that were handmade by David (uncle to the groom) which were holding fresh cut flowers during the wedding ceremony (see picture on left).  Then, there were twenty-four (24) vases holding fresh cut flowers (from Mike's neighborhood) on each table during the reception.

We wish you both the best in life!  We hope you are having an awesome honeymoon on your safari trip.
