Start the New Year with Art!

I will be demonstrating at Guilford Art Center for their fourth annual, FREE Open Arts Day on Sunday, January 3, 2016, 1-3pm. The Art Center’s studios and classrooms will be open with instructor artists demonstrating their crafts and offering hands-on art projects. Visitors are invited to try out an art form (or two! Or three!) they want to learn more about, including, Pottery, Blacksmithing, Painting, Drawing, Weaving, Kids’ classes and more.

Come make square bowls with me!

No reservations or registration are necessary, and all activities are free of charge.

Happy New Year - 2016!

Thank you for a successful winter show! I have all ready started to go back to work in making mugs. I look forward to another year of making pottery with different useful forms and experimenting with color.

Strictly Functional 2015 Show

Today, I was brave and applied for the Strictly Functional 2015 Show. I submitted six different photos of three pieces of work which have all been chattered with ashes on them. They are:

We lots and lots to look at in the gallery and studio with over 

700 pieces available in multiply glazes and shapes.  

Getting the gallery ready for this weekend!

We moved back on Sunday evening after the Shoreline Arts Trail show with the boxes and cubes. We started yesterday by unpacking, cleaning and setting up the show for the next two weekends. There are over 600 pieces in the gallery plus more that just came out of the kiln. 

We will be open Saturday and Sunday - 10 am - 5 pm. Come join us and enjoy a cookie!!

Connecticut NBC News - Tonight & Tomorrow Morning!

Watch for us!! I was interviewed at Wesleyan Potters by Connecticut NBC news which will air tonight around 5:30 pm and again on Saturday morning around 11:30 am. In addition, they interviewed students and key members regarding why people take pottery classes.

Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day!  

I spent a wonderful day at Quinnipiac University showing students, faculty, staff and visitors my wheel and giving them the opportunity to touch the clay. Most people found the experience relaxing and had fun playing with the lip of the piece.

Back at Work

Back at work!  

I have been taking a workshop at Wesleyan Potters on Sunday mornings 

and just completed the class today.  

One of my pieces is in the showcase at Wesleyan Potters.  

I'm ready to get back in my studio on Sundays.    

Hand Built Bowl

This bowl was made while I was teaching at Guilford Art Center. The bowl is hand built with a raw lip (no glaze).  

Hot, Hot, Hot!!!

It was 80 degrees by 9:00 a.m. this morning with 70 plus humidity.  The best place to be is in the studio working.  Mia has taken up residency in my studio this summer, too.  I hope everyone is staying cool.

Awesome Fall Weekend

Gina and I have spent the day unloading the gas kiln with Mugi Studio (NYC) and reloading with the YMCA (NYC) pieces. Gina managed to move up all pieces that were in the kiln to the gallery (see photos) that were mine. In addition, she managed to sort and pack all the pieces that were unloaded this morning for Mugi. Go Gina!

A Saturday with Mugi Studio students

I have a relationship with Mugi Studio in New York City in which the students come to my studio and spend the day glazing their pieces with my glazes. I will fire the pieces in my gas kiln. The pieces are picked up by the instructor (owner and friend) and returned to the students.

The workshops are usually in the fall and spring. I will have a group on Tuesday and the last group on October 27th.

The photos show the studio cleaned up prior to the workshop and then the students.
